Sunday Short Story Challenge Check-In

Day 14 Wordcount: 733 (In the Cauldron, Short Story #4)

Yes, I’m finally on to a new story. Yay! It took a bit of time to get into as I needed to make the big decision of what POV to write it in.

Ultimately I decided to tell the story in First Point Of View. It will be the second original story in First I’ve written, and oddly, both have been male POV’s. Go figure.

Other than that, I’ve been sleeping a lot. And I mean a LOT.

Okay, update time. Not only is this Sunday, but it’s also the 15th of the month. That means that for the 10-short stories in the month level of the challenge, I should be sitting at 5 completed stories.

Here is where I stand:

#1 – Glint of a Ring: Finished at 7127 words
#2 – Dark Circus (A Gateway Roadhouse Story): Finished at 9474 words.
#3 – Glint of an Artifact: Finished at 9000 words.
#4 – In the Cauldron: In progress. Currently at 733 words

Yikes, I’m at least 1 1/2 stories behind!

Meanwhile, if you divide all of the above by 3000 words (a nice sized short story), I would be sitting at over 8 finished. But no, I have to write long short stories or novelettes…

So, I’ll keep plugging away. Tis the best I can do. 🙂

*As a side-note, if this were a Nano month, I would be right on track. I’m a bit over 25,000 words written this month. Woohoo!

The challenge in question is the Forward Motion May “Story-A- Day” challenge. See my previous post about the rules. The goal is to achieve the 10 short story level.
