There are many thoughts and emotions surrounding the changes in the publishing business. One of them is despair. It’s a feeling that is rising among those writing for the big publishing companies. Looking around and finding the ample opportunities they once had gone. Finding themselves dropped. Told they don’t write as well as they once [...] First, the day has gone well. I’ve worked on several small things through the day, and the result is that my to-do list has drastically dwindled. Which means I can dive into revision tomorrow without anything weighing on me. Yay! Now on to not so nice news. New clauses are showing up in big publishing [...] Day 24 Wordcount: 201 (Mop Jockies and Fighter Pilots, Short Story #9) It took a while for an idea to come to me tonight. I think the problem was two-fold. 1. I’m still catching up on sleep and I would rather nap. 2. After 8 short stories and novelettes, the head wants to work on longer [...] Day 5 Wordcount: 49 (Dark Circus, Short Story #2) All of the words above were written this morning before work when I realized I needed to insert an important piece of scenery and atmosphere into the previous day’s writing. Today was an unusual day where I spent most of it organizing and overseeing an unexpected site inventory. [...] Hehe, play on words. I could increase the font so that suddenly I could read comfortably again (the print in the last few years is getting far too small in so many [...] Amanda Hocking is finally getting some well-deserved attention in the ‘official’ news channels, in this case USA Today. Like many have wondered, why have the big Indie success stories not been reported on? Amanda is close to the million-ebook sales figure, a level that only the likes of Nora Roberts, James Patterson, and Stieg Larsson [...] There is a new entry in the ebook conversion and distribution game.
